Sandhill Crane Update: The chicks have hatched!
See our most recent wildlife footage of the first of the sandhill crane chicks hatching in the evening of June 2nd, 2009.
The nest site in the clip is located in a bog pool on an island not far from Bella Bella, B.C. The eggs were laid between April 27th and May 1st. With an unmanned remote camera near the nest site, we have been able to observe their nesting behaviour, bog habitat use, and interactions with other species with minimal disturbance.
